This dad gives ZERO ducks
Welcome, not sure how the duck you ended up here, but I'm glad you did. Anyone catch that autocorrect? (WARNING: Bad dad jokes will be present!)
You ever wonder if you could do something cool? Something like….I don't know talk to 1,000's of people, or see if anyone will listen to you at all? What will I talk about? Whatever the duck I want, beauty is I can do that and not care if people listen and it's pretty liberating. Mostly I'll probably blabber about sports, video games, being a dad, or maybe I'll rant about work. But maybe I should start with who even am I?
It's interesting, my whole life I've always thought I was a fraud, always felt like I've never been good enough to achieve even what little I've achieved. Imposter syndrome? Maybe, who knows. Maybe you even feel the same way, maybe that's something I'll talk about too.
Well, I'll tell you this, I'm nothing special. I'm in my late thirties, happily married with two beautiful kids. I love cars and most sports, I play video games (yes, I'm a closet nerd). I find myself playing golf and pickleball as much as I can (mostly lying to myself that this is the only workout I need). But I'm trying to get back into lifting weights too, I want to survive to see my daughters get married. I feel like if I put that out there, I have to make it happen, right? So basically, I'm your average dad. Honestly, I can be lazy, I'm surprising myself right now by even writing this.
What do I do for work, right? That's probably the burning question for most people right now? Seems like that's always the question people ask when you first meet them? - Pro tip, I've stopped doing this….why? Couple of reasons: 1. I don't really care 2. I still don't really care 3. Does what someone does for work really tell you anything about them? Minus the fact that you're just trying to measure status? 4. I feel like the conversation is much better without this part of the interaction
But since you'll probably still want to know. I've been working at the same "cool" tech company for the good part of the last ten years, I've played many roles, but I'm currently finding myself in sales. If I'm being honest, I'm tired of it. Honestly, most of working in corporate America is bullshit anyways, people are just doing whatever they can to make themselves look good, management (either up or down) is always looking for dumb projects to "create a playbook(whatever the duck that means)" or pretend that we're not trying to sell products that aren't ready to be released and then acting confused when customers ask us "WTF" when we try to sell them.
Anyways, that's enough for now, is this where I leave you with a cliffhanger……well I'm going to go watch the masters. Next week we can dig more into that, plus maybe I'll talk a little bit about basketball. We're about to get into the playoffs….so we can all start watching now.
Actually, before I hit you with the big sign-off….I might do something cool next Friday, or I might not, #zeroducksgiven …..click the button and find out

Enjoy your Masters sunday!
